A general introduction to the basics of using Microsoft Word. Familiarise yourself with the skills necessary to produce effective communication via the printed document.
- Duration: 1 x 3 hour session. We work in blocks of no more than 90 minutes with a short 10 minute break for tea/coffee

- Customising Word – adjusting Word’s settings to suit the way you work
- Selecting commands -menu bar, shortcut menus, keyboard shortcuts, toolbars
- Manipulating text – entering & editing, aligning, selection options, drag & drop, formatting
- Views – when and how to use different views
- Moving around a document – using the mouse or the keyboard
- Printing basics – a look at the various options available
- Document formatting – page setup, aligning paragraph text, tabs and bullets
- Tables – a very brief introduction to using tables
- Columns - very brief introduction to using columns
